French energy PPP signed

27 July 2012 Chasse-sur-Rhone in France has penned a PPP with engineering contractor for the renovation of the town’s lighting systems.

Worth in excess of €4.3m, the 15-year partnership with SPIE Sud-Est encompasses renovations and maintenance of the town’s lighting as well as the lighting of town monuments and festive illuminations.

In a bid to harness renewable energy, the partnership aims to decrease energy use by approximately 38%, replacing 90% of existing lighting installations with 70% of electrical cabinets, masts and points of light being replaced in the first two years.

The town will see 210 new light points added to the current 1,622 and low energy LED light fittings will be installed. SPIE predicts the majority of the 38% saving will be obtained by the second year on completion of the renovation work.

Town Mayor, Jean-Pierre Rioult said: "This partnership provides Chasse-sur-Rhone with the assurance that it will soon have a reliable, modern and energy-efficient public lighting network".
