Shortlist announced for Denver light rail

22 June 2012 Two bids have been submitted for Denver’s US$750m I-225 light rail extension PPP.

The following teams will compete to design, build and finance a route along the highway corridor and rebuild two bridges, a new station and bus-rail interchange at Iliff, together with a 600-space car park:

  • Balfour Beatty Ames Joint Venture which includes Scotiabank Global Banking and Markets, Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe, Bank of America Merrill Lynch Global Markets; and
  • Kiewit Infrastructure which includes Mass. Electric Construction, AECOM, and RBC Capital Markets.

The teams submitted proposals today after a request for proposals was issued by Denver’s Regional Transportation District (RTD) in May. RTD will now review the two proposals and make a recommendation of the most qualified bidder to the RTD Board at the FasTracks Monitoring Committee meeting on 3 July.

The works will be funded by $90m out of the $305m of short-term funds which have been allocated in the 2011 FasTracks Financial Plan for work on projects not yet in construction.
