Belgian sports PPP closes

1 June 2012 Financial close has been reached for a project involving the construction of nine sports halls in the Flanders region of Belgium.

KBC Bank provided the full debt financing of €30m. PMV will invest €2m and will work with the consortium Democo-Denys on the design, build, finance and maintenance of the facilities in Antwerp, Kortenaken, Meerhout, Boutersem, Kortessem, Duffel and Blankenberge. The contract duration is 30 years.

The Flemish government subsidises local authorities with up to 30% of the availability fee.

Other local authority leisure projects include the construction of an Olympic pool and the delivery of the first multifunctional sports centre (Heist-opden Berg) which is expected in December.
