Philippines reshuffles PPP office
Ferdinand Tolentino will replace former deputy director Cosette Canilao, who was recently appointed as executive director of PPP.
In January, head of the Philippines’ PPP Centre Al Vitangcol III moved to head up the country’s train operator, the Metro Rail Transit Corporation.
Tolentino, who currently heads the F.D. Tolentino and Associates Law Office, obtained his Bachelor of Arts in Economics degree from the Ateneo de Manila University and his Master of Laws from the London School of Economics. He was also the legal consultant of the Foundation for Economic Freedom from September 1999 to March 2000.
Following a number of procurement hiccups last year, the Philippine government has renewed its commitment to PPPs this year with a number of new highway schemes and a US$245m schools programme. Its first PPP was signed in April, the US$36m Daang Hari-South Luzon Expressway Link Road.
