Second PPP for Finland’s E18

Finland’s Transport Agency (FTA) is considering a new €225m PPP to complete a section of the E18 highway.
FTA project director Hannu Lehtikankare confirmed to PPP Bulletin that the E18 Hamina-Vaalimaa road section is being considered as the next PPP in Finland.
"The right-of-way planning has just started, and it will take about two years. Thus, it would be technically possible to start the procurement phase in 2014, even though no decisions have been made on the accurate schedule of the implementation," he said.
The project is the last missing part of improving E18 to a complete motorway. It is a 32km long road section with five intersections, ending at the Russian border.
Finland’s €623m E18 Koskenkylä-Loviisa PPP reached financial close with three banks at the end of last year.
