Winner for Spanish A66 highway
The Ministry of Development has appointed a consortium formed by companies Cintra, Acciona and Meridiam as preferred bidder to build, maintain and operate a 49km stretch of the A66 highway between Benavente and Zamora in return for availability payments over 30 years.
Cintra beat competition from a number of leading firms including ACS, OHL and FCC.
The sections to be built are:
- Tranche A-6 (Castrogonzalo-Santovenia): 14.3 km
- Section Fontanillas Santovenia-Castro: 17.8 miles
- Section Fontanillas Castro-Zamora: 16.9 km
The contract award had been in doubt following the recent change in government and the bid levels that had been secured.
